About The Designer
Hi. I am Ashley. The mastermind behind Wild Orchid Jewelry by Ashley.
Initially I was looking at gemstone jewelry to buy, I wanted something that could be used for energy protection while I was working in healthcare. Nothing was truly speaking to me, so I went to Hobby Lobby, grabbed some beads I like that fit the profile I was looking for and began to create. My initial design was held together with hemp string, after a few months of everyday usage, the necklace broke. I knew I needed to create something stronger that would last. The creation of this protection necklace ignited my love for creating jewelry again. After that necklace I went on to create two more intentional necklaces with the same love, but different themes for manifestation if you will.
This idea to share my creations with others came to me on a drive to workout, like many great ideas of mine do, then through working out/moving my body the ideas just kept coming to me, and Wild Orchid was born.
When I look back at my journey my calling was always to be in the create and fashion world. My first business as a kid was making one of a kind pieces of jewelry that I would sell at holiday craft shows that my parents were a part of. Over the years, ‘career’ became the focus and my love for creating took a back seat for many years. I even almost sold all my beads and fixings to create jewelry.
For me I have always loved creating, having a vision in my mind, and making it a reality. Some of my creating and vision is successful on the first attempt, sometimes it takes many rounds of ‘prototypes’ of trial and error until the vision is fulfilled. I feel like a scientist in some ways too, it makes sense and chemistry and art have always been my favorite subjects. I once heard that Leonardo DaVinci created the Mona Lisa on top of another painting, which has made the restoration very difficult to maintain. I don’t have much of my earlier creations as I have created, de-constructing, and created again; I suppose that is the beauty of being artistic.
Thank you for being a part of this journey. I am excited to share with you the evolution of Wild Orchid.
